What LagInspector processes
LagInspector runs on your own PC and analyzes your network connection to iRacing. Specifically:
- Network packet headers (timing, size, source/destination) for traffic in iRacing's published port range — never the contents of packets, never your gameplay data itself.
- Your approximate location and ISP, detected via your public IP address, used to check you're connected to the nearest iRacing server and to show ISP-specific guidance. This is city-level, not precise.
- Windows system settings (power plan, network adapter settings, startup program count, background process names) — never file contents or personal documents.
- A device identifier, generated locally and used to track your trial/subscription access — not tied to your name or email unless you provide one separately (e.g. for support).
Where this data goes
A summary of your diagnostic results (the data above, structured — not raw packet contents) is sent to our backend to generate your plain-English report using Anthropic's Claude API. This summary is not permanently stored by us beyond what's needed to generate the report, unless you're on a plan with report history (not yet available in the beta).
What we don't do
- We don't read, transmit, or store the contents of your network traffic — only headers/metadata.
- We don't access your files, browser history, or anything outside of iRacing-related network traffic and the specific system settings listed above.
- We don't sell data to third parties.
Third parties involved
- Anthropic — processes your diagnostic summary to generate the written report.
- Supabase — stores your device ID and access tier (trial/paid status).
- Cloudflare — hosts our backend and this website.
- An IP geolocation service — used to detect your approximate location and ISP; your public IP is sent to this service as an inherent part of how IP geolocation works.
